That actually doesn't help. Doesn't matter if the stat opens at 170. The engine wants to run at 210. It will run at 210 and the stat will just stay open then.

I was having problems keeping mine running cool "210", mainly cuz I couldn't get all the air out of the system. I switched over to an open cooling system, as written up on madxj.com and it runs at a steady 210 now. If I am on the trail i have the aux. stock elec. fan on a switch since the one in the radiator crapped out and if it starts getting warm at slow speed I flip the fan on. Though I haven't really had it heat up on me since I switched it over.

It's labeled as the Budget cooling upgrade on Madxj.com I think I put about $40 bucks into the swap. I used a radiator bottle that Wally world had in the auto dept. Lot cheaper than using the Jegs catch can. I used a 13 psi radiator cap to that is the one thing he doesn't list is the cap rating he used in the write up.

Where did you get the vents form Tim?

I got the vents off ebay.

With a properly running system you should have no cooling issues on either the open or the closed system. The on my old XJ the only time I had an issue was when the tank was cracked. I personally don't see much of a point to spend the money to switch to a different cooling system.

I know....I gotta fix them. Problem is that I don't own the domain they were hosted on any more so fixing them would be a major pain in the ass.
