    Default My LJ build thread

This was a wrecked Jeep at one time that I managed to rebuild and hopefully make it better than what it was with many additional upgrades to add.

Most of the parts and pieces were removed from one frame and onto another frame over a weekend.
Here's a few more of the process along with some recent mods.

It now has 3" BDS springs, Currie control arms, Currie Anti Rock, warn bumper, smittybilt rear bumper (free), 241OR, TW driveshaft, gas tank skid plate, sliders, A pillar protection, lockrite locker, 33" tires, moabs, Tuffy console and then there's the list of stuff I still need to install such as the Currie steering, Warn winch, air locker, 4.88's, TT, HP30, Novak cable, chromoly shafts, on board air, taurus fan, full crusher corners with flares, out boarding the bilstein shocks and I know there's more in the pile of parts just sitting there that's I've forgotten about along with my pile of DOM for a cage.

Wrapping up my flat skid and Novak cable shifter this week which is a bitch to install in a Jeep with a 241OR transfer case. Much larger TC than the 231.
Making for an interesting bit of fabrication.
Pros: 3 1/2" more clearance under the belly without buying new tires and the shovel will be gone.
Cons: very little room between the tub and transmission.

I need a bigger hammer and more room to swing it.
Will post up some pics when I'm done. Had to cut out and lower one section of the skid so the transfer case would clear a bit better. I'll slide over rocks much better now that the bent up stock one is gone for good.

Now to get something solid to replace the temporary washers.
3 inches of extra ground clearance compared to the crappy stock shovel skid plate.
There is a novak cable shifter under there as well to make things much better. No more having the stock shifter come apart on the trail and crawling under it to put it back in 4wd.

Lots more stuff to get installed before Gitche Gumee.
Winch, track bar, rear anti-rock, out board the shocks, steering skid, currie steering, 35's maybe and I'm sure there's more in the huge pile of parts.

Meh, not sure why anyone would build an LJ, especially a silver one. Too long, messes up the whole SWB thing, all that storage space would confuse me....

    I like it so far!

Yes. The mud up there is clay.

    Hmmm clay.
Made more improvements yesterday to the Jeep. Installed Currie CURRECTLYNC steering along with a metalcloak chromoly adjustable track bar. If you need an upgrade for your TJ check out the metalcloak track bar. It's 1/2 the price of the Currie and made with solid chromoly with no interference with the diff cover.

Silver wasn't my first color of choice it just happened to be the color of the wrecked LJ I found, but it does grow on you. The chrome grill cover will be coming off when the flat fenders are finished up.
