Default Jeep pain in my azz

Why in hell would you put a body bolt through the bumper and why in the hell did jeep mix the bumper with the fuel tank shield and strap's. So tell me if the body bolts bust do other's just roll without them. It looks like i can on bolt the bumper and remove the hitch and gas can strap things after the bumper is of. I all most broke the tank straps. I think i only have 4 bolts holding the bumper on and 2 of them are body bolts is true. So what is the best way to remove the rear bumper from a 1994 jeep yj.

Bumper should not have anything to do with body mount bolts. Body mount bolts go through the rear crossmember.

Four bolts on each side. The ones that once held on the bumperettes.

Your hitch is not your bumper. You don't have a bumper. And you don't have to do anything with the gas tank to put a body lift on. Leave the gas tank bolts alone.

    Crossmember.

And take off the bumperetts. They are gay and if you wheel you'll smash them anyway and then they are a bigger pain in the ass to get off.

You mount the bumper using the holes that the bumperettes are mounted to

Ok. So i have to snake a socket up behind the cross member to remove the hitch so i can clean it up and repaint it. I might install this bumper if i can come up with the cash.

    ahhhhhh

The hitch. Yea, that throws a wrench in the works. Some bumpers use the 2 outer sets of holes, some use all 4 on each side and then some use the bottom and top holes also.

What I have found works the best for the gas tank bolts is to snap them off or cut them off and start with new. The gas tank stays attached to the gas tank skid plate and the straps do not need to be removed to get the tank out.

I still don't know why you are messing with the body mount bolts. They don't have anything to do with the bumper, bumperettes or the gas tank. Unless your hitch uses those bolts as a mount point.

I took the tank skid plate bolts out when i thought i had to pull the crossmember. The bolts are in good shape so i will put anti-seize on the bolts and reinstall them. Having them out gives a little more room to remove the hitch bolts.

Bumper is on the ground and what a pain in the ass it was. I broke one bolt that goes in the bottom right frame rail. Working on the engine is fun but the rear bumper shit is not fun.
