I bought the truck for $75. They told me the timing chain was out of it. But I thought there might be more to it then that. So I decided to pull the engine, and put in a used 4.3. My used 4.3 is out of a astro van so I have to switch oil pans. Here is what was in the bottom of the oil pan. So much for timing chain.:fryingpan:

Well, then based on your description, I would say that the problem wasn't the timing chain.

That is my expert opinion.

That was with out a doubt the worst vehicle that I have ever done a engine swap in. Didn't help that the engine came out of a Astro van.:banghead:

Well I haven't had alot to show you. I got it running and have been fixing alot of 10 cent things. Like power windows and door handles and such. But what can you expect out of a $75 truck.

But I finally got my fenders and hood on it. As well as my winch bumper.:woot:

It's just a press plug type thing, prone to spin the tubes.

on the 8.8, the tubes are prone to spin separate from the housing, both in offroad and racing situations.

An idea for the 8.8, to push the ends out a little, is to buy yourself a super 88 kit by superior. It adds a couple inches(1 or 2) to the overall width, it gives you alloy shafts, and eliminates the c-clips. That would get it pretty close to being as wide as the jk44. Just a thought..

Looking good though.

My first attempt at a spring pack was a little to stiff.

And my first pair of spring perches were a little to tall. ( I may have had my eyes crossed while reading the tape measure.)

Nice part of s 10 , theres a lot of them around cheap . To do a cheap build id put a 8.8 in the rear D 30 in the front and stay with 32 or 33 " tires

That combo your wheels would match 5 on 4.5 lock the rear and be happy .

It drives.:woot:

No problems with bump steer, brake lines needed to be moved a little and the front drive shaft had some binding trouble. But that is resolved now.

So just an exhaust and she's on the road again.
