I keep taking the pills. If that doesn't work, I do what the voices tell me to.

I get them too. I try to stay focused on what is important....not the commercial side of the holidays and not on the "perfect little tv families" they show on programs or commercials. I get so sentimental sometimes and regret the things that have torn my family apart, but we don't live in a perfect world and we need to be happy with what we have.
Also, for me, taking a little time by myself helps....so does prayer http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o266/evilqueen33/smileys/EvilBeGone.gif

I dont usually get depressed around the holidays, but this year may be a different story. A lot has gone on for me lately that I do not understand, or agree with....so that has been affecting me, whether I try to "block" it out or not.
I try to keep myself busy with what I can, to keep my mind off things

I think about the my friends and family that are still alive.
I think about my dog.
I think about your wife.
I think about snow and snowboarding.
I think about my idiot friends and family who are dead now.
I think about all of the people who are more concerned about making others happy.
I think about tax return time paying off the gifts I bought.
I drink too.

Just remember, everything happens for a reason and it usually works out for better in the long run. A year from now, you'll be laughing about it and moving on to other of life's kicks to the groin.:marv:

Hmmmm this thread is getting depressing:cry: Life around the holidays is no different then March 17th on any given year. LIfe can suck no doubt about it. It is all a matter of how an individual handles life that will determine if the individual sucks at life. Depression is an individual thing. If I want to be cheered up I will try and hang with friends and family in hopes they can help me cheer up. If I want to be depressed I will drink a fifth by myself. However I tend to have an over optimistic view on life. I rarely get depressed..........well if we get a lack of snow this year I will get back to you all on that:hehe:
Keep your head up.
Thing could be way worse.
Focus on what you do have.
Follow through.
and believe it or not......it really helps to clean up around the garage and the house. Keeps the mind occupied and busy.

i was in a really good mood, until i started listening to christmas music... some of those are really sad. it makes me remember how worried i was last year about my brother in iraq, and how much i missed bein away from my family.
now my bro's home :woot: but i still miss being away from my fam.
i get melancholy when there are many gray days. i miss the warm sunshine. i dread winter

I have my moments at the holidays due to loved ones no longer here. but look forward to seeing the Grandkids spark in there eyes around the Holidays.
My worst day is my Birthday.. Lost Grandfather, Best Friend and my Mom all around my Birthday. Getting where I hate to see it come.
How people go through life with out having Kids , Family, and Good Friends I will never understand.

I used to get post holiday blues, when you get intho those cold dark January days with nothing much to look forward to until the spring thaw.
But now being a single divorced guy who's kids are nearly grown I don't enjoy the holidays as much as I used to and sometimes get the blues. The worst part about being single is that theres always a few days when my brothers both go spend time with thier inlaws, the kids are with thier moms family, and my parents go visit my sister in Minnesota that I feel left out. I usually try to find some project around the house (I have many) to keep myself busy.

I get laid off every year just before Christmas, so that can depressing or a blessing:lol:
I don't totally get into the holiday season like I should, but I don't get depressed. Just busy with 4 kids and the fact my wife works 13-14hr days over the holidays.
Sam next time I see ya I'll give ya a hug, that should help ya not be depressed..............but might require you to seek therapy tho'
