well got the batt. and stereo / cb swapped out ... then took the rear carrier outta the xj to find out its limited slip ... so i made a few calls and decided to leave it be. also i have the front lifted .. only took me 2 hours to get er done and tomorrow after work its on to the rear and the t case drop and it should be all set ... only prob i have so far is the front brake line brackets dont line up so i think i might have to buy some new lines for it other than that it went pretty smooth (helps when theres no rust lol)
xj97sport
08-16-2008, 08:01 PM
well got it all together .. thanks again bronco budda for helpin out (sorry i was wiggin out ... damn jeep thing) any how all is well on the jeep ... could use a alignment and the rear shackles still need to go on (ya its gunna suck i already tried ... damn jeep thing) well heres some pics of it with the jimmy and wifeys maibu ... also a rear shot of it. let me know what you guys think. next is custom front and rear bumpers, rims, and a roof rack ... well besides a alignment and the shakles

xj97sport
08-16-2008, 10:49 PM
ya the top bolt pass. side is just free spinning ... and i think ya know what that means ... well if not it means to me im cuttin off some shackles sad thing is the jimmy and the jeep sit the same height .... kinda a bummer i was hoping it would be taller
MuddyPaws 3.0
08-17-2008, 12:41 AM
Bummer.
take the rear bumper off and you can see the weld nut though a hole in the rear of the rig. You might have to make the hole bigger. Stick a sawz all in there and cut the bolt off.
xj97sport
08-17-2008, 12:47 AM
cool thanks mp .... knew i could call on ya for a solution ... other than that what ya think about it? oh ya got a front bumper ya wanna sell :hehe:

well finally got around to putting the shakles on ... me and joe (perkins mechanical) were thrashin on it. welded the free spinning nut and while it was hot i cranked it off. as for the other one i still cut the hole in the back and lubed er up and she spun right out. i think it sits tons better givin i have a graded drive and a set of 33" tires on steel rims in the back during this pic but you can tell its alot better notice as well i had to hack the exhaust lol oh well

08-22-2008, 08:15 PM
...sad thing is the jimmy and the jeep sit the same height .... kinda a bummer i was hoping it would be taller
The XJ will always be little! I still think mine is. Thats becasuse a lot of mall wheelers tj's sit taller on 33's, o well. Also the solid axles flex way better and offer some good usable ground clearance that the jimmy lacks
xj97sport
08-22-2008, 08:22 PM
true ... i tried to put 33" tires on it today ... ya that was a no go i just stood em next to it and ya theres no damn way thats gunna happen

Tires are 35 inch XTerrains.

xj97sport
11-30-2008, 05:55 PM
think i can patch this? http://s376.photobucket.com/albums/oo201/xj97sport/?action=view¤t=SANY0063.jpg i dont plan on airing it down, going to put them on my d window rims and just use them for wheeling. my other option is putting a tube in it but i dont know if i could drive it on the road like that to places i wheel
MuddyPaws 3.0
11-30-2008, 06:31 PM
I would patch it AND put a tube in it for wheelin.
And if you never plan on airing down, then you don't plan on wheelin.
xj97sport
11-30-2008, 06:32 PM
so buy a new one i take it ... im all over it

Find a place that does commercial tire repairs. They can often repair sidewalls like that. grind them out, fill them, revulcanize them, and patch on the inside. I believe the technical term is called a 'section repair'.
