aussie lockers and carriers for my dana 44? looking to go 33 spline in the rear and leave the front alone for now. just figue since i have to get shafts may as well spend the extra 30 to get 33 spline but i need a carrier for a rear tj 44 that will accept 33 spline shafts and 4.88 gears. also need a carrier and gears for a front waggy 44. would i have to get a different kind of gears and carrier for each? both are Low pinion. thanx dudes

Thats correct. To my knowledge, the 33 spline Dana 44 only offered a Detroit Locker, Ox Locker, or an ARB as options. These come with the carrier to accept the 33 spline shafts. The 33 spline package was never offered in any factory vehicle combination, so thats why no open carriers exist.

If you are looking for a good price on Aussie Lockers, I would check this out

If you are still looking for gears, check these out. These are Yukon Gears, which I run, and I dont have any complaints.

porc for gears if you are on the cheap.

and x2 what brent said. you should be able to get Aussies from a pirate4x4 vendor for $200ish all day long.

you wont break a rear 44 shaft with 37"s with the way you wheel or even if you beat on them. if you are that worried about it buy 1 5x4.5 to 5x5.5 adapter and carry your stock shafts. i have naded ring and pinoins before breaking my shafts. sure there 33 spline but a 30 spline alloy is pretty damn strong.

fair enough. should i go with aussies in both? that seems to be cheapest. oo and brent the yukon have 4.89 gear? is that basically the same as 4.88?

running thick gears will elimnate the need for new cariers.

you will. the master install kit doesnt come with guide tube seals (only used in the rear i believe) but the new rear axle shafts do some with them so you are set. when ur doing new rear axle shafts its a good time to consider toing the crown vic brake swap.

also buy one of these for the front. if you dont have a u-bolt style in the rear buy another one.
