the first pic is after the bbbs run and the second one was my first trip with it to a local freinds back yard to see what she was made of as you can see there a huge buldge in the second pic on the roof line that has now been takin care of via port a power compliments of my good freinds at perkins mechanical who are also letting me do my axel swap at there shop ... the reasoning for the buldge is it side swiped a telephone pole and well ... ya it showes bad on the floor board i kinda fixed it but its hard to bang out a giant pole imprint and that is the reason it became a wheeler

the d35 rear can live. is it flanged or c clip. the flanged version is a perfect candidate for a super 35 kit. i had one in my jeep and put a super 35 kit in it. i had great luck with 35's and 36's. if ya get in a bind i got a ford 9 inch for 75 bucks. 3.50 gear complete drum to drum, 65 wms. i had a 88 s10 blazer for a long time, was a great truck except the ifs.
good luck

05-19-2008, 08:21 PM
ya the ifs is the next thing to go this winter and as for this super 35 kit ima check into it ... like ive said i only wanna max out at 33 inch tires so i think my axel should be alright .
also while im on the thread i just drove it home played around in the dirt at the shop for a minute did ok so i decided to bring her home ... drove like a champ the track lock thing is flippin awsome when i turned i was expcting the wheel hop and none .... WOOT and the locker works case i floor boarded it in the dirt and both lit up so im a happy camper

Ok jt, Im gonna bite. A limited-slip (trac-loc) is a clutch plate style or cone or worm gear design or centrifigal weights(gov-loc) only intended to equalize torque to each axle under load, as long as the surface remains reasonably stable on each wheel. Now put one tire on pavement and one on dirt, starting out both tires will spin but the tire on the dirt will break loose and the pavement tire will slow because of the power going to the dirt.A good limited slip will minimize this but wont stop it. A locker is a spring loaded clamshell type mechanism or electric or mechanical engagement; that will lock both rear axles reguard less of surface composition. The bad part witha locker if you spin out with on tire in dirt the other one on pavement; the pavement axle will develope an exponential torque load because there is no resistance on the dirt side. This eventually will fatigue the axle beyond its limits and it will fail. Its just a matter of time.:blabla::wtf::argue:

what do you mean lunch box locker?
BroncoBuddha
05-28-2008, 01:21 PM
aussie locker, lock rite detroit ez locker etc are all called lunchbox lockers because they will fit in a lunch box, because of they way they are designed/installed they are small

stock disk dana 35
surprised no one said any thing about me workin on it with a crane holdin it up lol
Around here I just don't look anymore, it could be anything from our tractor and the neighbors to a skidster holding up parts with my husband under them. A crane just looked normal.

keep it up buster and ur jeep will be pink when im done with it lol
speaking of pink, years ago one of our neighbors as a joke painted Duramax's sawhorses all hot pink (he had them blocking several areas coming into 2 driveways to try to dry up muddy spots in the spring. Neighbor didn't realize he's color blind. He never did realize they were painted and never changed them after someone finally told him. they just kind of faded back to gray over the years.

well i took the jimmy out today and it did pretty good. of course the minute the trail got muddy i didnt floor board it (my lil girl was with me) so i got stuck . after 5 minutes of my bro in law kitty footing around trying to "tug" me out i told him if he didnt get a running start and jerk me out ima pull it out with his jeep myself, so he matted it and got me out. so i decided to go around the sink hole and played around on hills and lil bit of mud tryin out the axel. all in all it went pretty good, oh ya i got high centerd as well. also on the way back out i dipped in the pit i got stuck in and i went through it (even tho it was the shallowest part and only like 12 feet in) so it gave me a sense of fullfillment

kinda, but to add. A lunchbox locker fits inside the carrier, replacing the spider gears. A full case locker replaces the whole carrier.
