Im going to Canada in June. I will be running some private property, and several trails on the province land. Big rocks, tight trails. This isnt a stocker run, but should be a great time for those equipped. Sault Ontario
We are going the 27th and 28th of June, and staying at Blueberry Hills Campground. www.onblueberryhill.com
Spending one day at the Trussle Offroad Park, and another day exploring the vast wilderness of the Province Trails.
Should be a great time, and I hope some can join me.
Suggested Requirements
35's
Locked Front Rear
Winch
Tow Points
Body damage possible
If you still wish to go, but do not meet this requirements, just contact me. If you are seriously interested in going we will definitely make that work

Well I am sure that you have been there before, but I was interested in going to Charlenes property, the ORV park. I have talked to several people I know well that have been there, and they say it is a really nice place.

It would be really awesome if you could join us Victor. I know that you are very knowledgeable about the area, and could maybe point us in the direction of good trails at the park.

Hi I would suggest the end of May or beggining of June or you will get carried away by the flys:eek: Also suggest no smaller than a 35" tire and one locker and must have a winch.

that is what it is looking like for me. something in the middle to later june.
the bugs could possibly be not as bad as usual if we continue this relative cold snap with the remaining snow, they might come out a little later this year.

Got myself in the Dog house when I told the wife I was going wheeling on the 21st. Guess that is my daughters birthday. I would be up for the 14th or 28th. I don't miss a trip to Canada only a couple hours and some of the best wheeling. I am sure I could round up a couple others from Petoskey. If you were hauling out from here that would make a nice convoy. Make sure all considering the trip don't have any DUI's or it is an expensive trip.

The 14th, and 21st do not work for me anymore. I know this weekend wont work for everyone, but if you are able to join us please do! Brent,
I've been to Char and Randy's twice. Plenty to do and about the most challenging in Canada you'll find in one concentrated area. If it's wet it turns into alot of horsepower or winching.
That time of year you must be prepared to deal with the bugs or they will drive you crazy. Have fun!

Glad to see you here Neurotoxin. The park is a no no with a stocker but much of the queensland stuff can be done. Just depends on the line you take and whether or not you mind hearing the skid plates bang on stuff.
I am planning on a mild build rig run out Trestle Trail. It can be done with a stocker and some conviction I think.
Front/rear tow point are a must.
I'll leave it to Brent to make the call.

Ya, I know of many trails through Heyden, Goulais, etc. that I can possibly do.....problem is I've never gone wheeling with others before and I've always turned around when things looked if'y (no winch). I really don't know the full capabilities of my truck yet. Banging off the skid plates is'nt a problem for me....had to use the front one to pop my self out of a couple of holes before.....cracked the bumper valance doing it but I got out.

What are you wheelin?
Wheeling with a group of experienced people is, in my mind, some of the safest wheeling and it gives you a real good opportunity to learn what the rig can do, and how it will feel when it is doing things on the limits.
Getting stuck is not a big deal as long as there are recovery points at both ends so you can be pulled through what you can't drive through. Common things, no trailer balls etc apply.

Well the time is getting closer, the run is next weekend. So far we have a small group going, but it should be a good time, rivaling some of the best wheeling anywhere on the East Coast
Here is who I have going so far
**Drummond
**Muddypaws
**Evil Queen
**Sglide
**Canadian Jeeper (one day I think)
Anyone else is welcome, contact me if you would like to come. We will be able to hit plenty of trails with such a small group. Reservations for rooms can be made with Blueberry Hill Resort and Campground. www.onblueberryhill.com I will be arriving Thursday night, and we will be wheeling some trails on the Queen Land on Friday. Doing some stuff at the park on Saturday. Remember your bug spray:thumb:

I'm bringing my power washer.
Since Beefy is out this weekend, i'm going to have to make 2 trips over the border. One to get the Camper for us all there and the other to get the Jeep there.
Lucky for me it's a little less than 20 miles each way.

Ok so here is the deal... i will be able to make it as long as i find a tow rig and one person to ride with me to split fuel charges. I should have a good idea if i can make it on friday or saturday.
Since i am lazy i didn't read through the whole thread. What times are people leaving and driving up. I would like to meet someone at the bridge or before canada.

I am leaving Thursday, probably around 4 or so from Petoskey, so that would put me at the bridge around 5 or so. Only about an hour and a half from there to Canada.

Is brent's jeep back together?
For the most part yes. I just need to finish up a couple more additional things. I am building a custom skid/crossmember tomorrow. I get some driveline vibes with the homemade driveshaft, but that is due to having a standard joint on the transfer case output, versus a double cardon joint. But I have driven it around, and to work this week.

yeah the standard joint just hurts me on the road because of my wheelbase. the angle is really sharp off the t-case, so i get vibes. however it will be better offroad, and wont bind. I have clearanced all the yokes. it will work for now
i will guarantee it to be some of the best wheeling you have ever done, so hopefully you can make it

So, Tim.... I talked to Brent for awhile last night about what to bring etc. Is there anything you can think of that I should bring or not bring...etc. for the trip? Brent said to make sure both cars are fairly clean...no mud etc.
Are you bringing your laptop? I was thinking of bringing mine just for movies, but if it's a hassle at the border I don't want to.
MuddyPaws 3.0
06-24-2008, 12:27 PM
Laptops are no problem. I'll be bringing mine also so I can load Canada maps.
We should get something going on food so we don't all have to bring everything. I'll be doing breakfast for everyone ...french toast...2 mornings.
Coffee is a no brainer....I'll take care of coffee, sugar, milk.
Be nice if someone brought some kind of covered coffee cups for people.
Bring rain gear. Weather is calling for possible rain all 3 days.
Bring several pairs of shoes/boots. It would also be in your best interest to buy a boot dryer from Wal-Mart or something. I tell you what, I have used mine a million times and it's way better than spending all weekend in a set of wet boots because you got a soaker the first day there.
I might think of more.

I can bring carry out coffee cups. I assume lunch is on the trails, what about dinner?

I cant wait till Thursday, I have been crazy busy getting ready for this. Built a custom crossmember/skid-plate, changed a freeze plug, changed oil, changed coolant, changed spark plugs, and adjusted the steering properly. Got the newer t-case in, homemade d-shaft working well. Still need to fill up the t-case tonight, finish up a few loose ends with wiring, put new shoes on the rear drum brakes, build a mount for my chainsaw and axe, and figure out a vent for the t-case. Tomorrow after work I need to get the truck ready, everything loaded and packed and everything I dont finish tonight done.

I was thinking about doing dinner with someone bring this and someone bring that but never made the post and now it's a little late.
Lunch on the trail on your own but I always have too much crap so I will share my banana. :hehe:
I don't know what i'll do for dinner. I'll have my little grill and anyone is welcome to cook their stuff on it. I'll also have the camper so you can cook stuff on the stove too. No oven though, so plan accordingly.
Anyone have any fire wood? I do not and don't know where to get any.

I doubt they will let us transport firewood. I can live on hotdogs cooked or not. :hehe: It won't be like having Mongo as my cook though....his camping meals rock! Brent said there is a restaurant nearby. Will we be back in time at night to eat there?
