The parts store people...

I need longer shocks for the Kota..... My rear shocks are about 3" too short... I went to napa to get new ones, they have no idea how to do this :hehe: I said just give me the shocks off a ram I'll make them work. Well this cant work because there the same freaking size! So whats a little bit longer than a Dakota's shock??? But fits in the same mount?

O 1997 Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4 with lift...

stock length
compression 15.250"
extended 24.625"

BJB that is from the book, i have a NAPA shock book for just this reason. With his style shock mounting on the frame and axle he already has the longest shock NAPA offers in their line of shocks:fryingpan:

i have found that part stores and most counter people have forgotten the lost art of what i call "manual reading". The art of physically turning a page vs clicking a mouse. If its not on the computer screen then its not possible.

The problem is that they dont train them to use the books anymore.

Beefy, like ty said you need to measure the extended and collapsed lenght for the shock you need and then research aftermarket companys such as rancho, ome, skyjacker, bilstein, ect. Get some part numbers and you can order them thru local parts stores. also check out eshocks (http://www.eshocks.com/)

So here's what I have decided... I'll just take the back shocks off when wheeling because they are just too short.... Any problems with that?

dont do it, just go and get the right shocks. if you take yours off offroad everytime you hit a bump the rear of the truck will just keep on bouncing
