I pick up a 1996 polaris 400 4x4 scrambler. in good shape for age but needs some work.

1. has less then 25 psi for compression so i need to pull head and find out if it needs a top end rebuild or both rebuild and new jug
2. make the drive chain shorter way to long.
3. buy a starter does not have one now.
4. buy a battery
5. repaint going to make all the white blue and all the red black

i pulled the head today jug is fine but piston is toast so i will be ordering a top end rebuild for it

For a 400 it looks small... The ethanol will do that to the engines my chainsaw shop keeps a list of gas stations that don't add it to their gas.

yea the pic makes it look smaller then it is. I have not heard of the ethanol thing tho i will have to talk to the polaris dealer in town and see want they say about it

today i pulled the carb and cleaned it. where was some white stuff built up in the fuel jet and on the fuel jet needle. I am thing that this mite have cause it to run lean and burn up the piston.

yeah, that built up white stuff can kill you, so I've been told
