Gater, you could install an aussie in about 2 hours if you shave never seen the inside of a diff, about 45 minutes if you have.

Its a good learning experience and doesn't require gear setup.

i put two lunchbox style lockers in myself and neither one took over an hour.

one aussie in a 44 and a powertrax no-slip in an 8.8.

I must be slow. Today it took me 30 minutes just to pull a carrier in prep for gears and I had a hoist and air.

For these lockers you do not have to pull the diff like you would for a re-gear. They just switch out the spider gears for the locker parts.

On a dana 30 with lower than stock gearing, you sometimes need to pull the carrier and drop the ring, but if you mark it you can just put it back on the same and not setup the gears again.

I've done several, just never in 45 minutes. A simple diff fluid change takes 20 - 30 minutes for the average shade tree guy on the ground.
