i recently got my hands on an old jeepster. this thing is sweet! the body is in awsome shape exept its purple. the suspension is all stock. The motor is a healthy 350 chev 350 turbo trans 205 t-case. my plans are to lift/cut it for 35 or 37's. it has the closed knuckle 44 in the front i want to upgrade to a newer bj one. as for lift i want to either find lift springs for it or cobble my own up from the junkyard. rear drive shaft angle will be extreme due to the gm drive train so i was thinking of moving the rear axle back or the drivetrain foward. also needs a cage because the top comes off so theres no protection. these are just the ideas i have for this thing i would really like to do this project. i haven't seen anyone wheel a jeepster so i think it would be different . sorry no pics yet i don't have a camerea yet. if anyone has any ideas for the build or any input please tell me this will be my first true trail rig!

are you planning to swap out both axles?

finding a lift may get tricky. i would plan to swap srings from something else. that way it is easier to get taller springs if needed.

if you don't mind cutting up the body to clear the tires i would keep it as low as possible to help the rear driveshaft.

otherwise it would be cool to see a jeepster wheeling.

thinking about possibly going with a wider 44 or 60 front and rear all depends on the deals i can find. as for the springs all the kits i can find are stiff so i will probably end up putting my own together:mongo:

only the 2nd to last picture was a jeepster(the white one with the stylish hubcaps), the rest were just jeep commando's.

well, the commando was called the jeepster commando till the last year or so of its production. and the commando was an attempt by AMC to bring back the old jeepster originally built by willys.

so for inspiration i guess you could look at pictures of both. :D
