I see no reason for it but do what you want.
I would be very careful welding it in.
I have seen several axles get warped bad by welding a truss on.

I'd put it on just for the bling factor

Glue some rhinestones on it and throw it under there.:hehe:

I would run it, trusses done right will help keep deflection at bay. The downside to me is added more weight, although that shouldn't be much.

I would sell it to someone that wants the added bling. The 8.8 that is under the XJ now has been under 3 rigs with 35-37's and don't seem to be needing any trusses. I seldom see trusses on the trail unless they are there for links. If you are planning on jumping it a lot, like at the dunes, then I might add it.
Looks like a shit ton of welding to be done to fill in the gaps though.

I started thinking about bumping up to 40's, but then I thought about it and we live in MI. Right now my Jeep does pretty well, if I were to go much bigger there would be no challenge here. I still want offroading to be challenging, and if you go to big, it takes all the fun out.
But that's just my $.02

Ollie I personally think you should weld a couple rings on the underside of whatever roll cage you have. One on the driver's side and one on the passenger side should suffice. Make sure they are large enough for a fair sized lanyard to pass through since they allow for the easiest variation of use

I've never heard of Borked down vehicles before. Is it expensive? Is it fun? Will I get a rash?
LuckyCharm4x4
05-26-2010, 09:41 AM
It's borked, what's not to get? (I know I spelled it wrong both times, it was on purpose.) It's not too expensive, all you have to do is bork what you have, and then you have a non-running vehicle!
Back to the topic though. Coastie, is your wheel still holding air?
