I have been working on trying to figure out the parts list for this for a while.. I am wanting to swap out the D30 front in my TJ for a D44 with lockouts.
So far, I have found the following:
A 74 Wagoneer D44 PS drop is 60" WMS-WMS. This is almost the perfect width.
I have a 74 Wagoneer D44 PS drop with Disc brakes, 6x5.5 bolt pattern.
Now on to the questions:
I want to make it 5x5.5 with lockouts, but having trouble figuring out exactly what parts I need to make this happen. From what I can tell, I need some ford hubs, spindles, and bearing seals. (Are the hubs the lockout part?)
I imagine I need different calipers and rotors, so I need to figure out which ones.
Do the stub shafts have to be replaced with a specific shaft for the lockouts?
Any help would be appreciated, especially if you did a similar swap <cough>BigBen</cough>.

I think your going to need the Knuckles out off something like a 1/2 ton ford or 1/2 ton dodge.
Welcome to the brotherhood of bastard axles :D

take a look at rubicon fronts.. you can drop them right in and usually find them for around 1000
alot less headache.....

But then you still don't have lockouts and use dana 30 outers. Its not that great of a swap.
I've done this with a 44 I built a few years back. What I did was use chevy flat top knuckles, with chevy 1/2 ton brakes, and the chevy 1/2 ton spindles. This was the smaller 6 bolt spindle. Then you can bolt on 1/2 ton ford hub/rotor assembles to them. Not sure about your outers but some have two snap ring groves and are different length. The one I had had only one but the end is threaded. I ended up putting a bolt in it with a washer to hold the lockout assembly in the hub.
If i remember right, your Waggy front used the same brake and knuckles as a chevy 1/2 ton correct?
If so you should be able to bolt on a rotor/hub assembly from mid to late 70's 1/2 ton ford.
Basically what I bought and bolted to chevy spindles (which should be the same as waggy spindles)

Oh I forgot, your spindles need to be the small bearing chevy style like the one in the middle. It will bolt to your existing knuckles.

x2. Rubi 44's are for sissies.
I believe the 74 Waggy and chevy half ton use the same spindles and caliper mounts
According to harsh terrain...
How to convert a Dana 44 (Chevrolet or Jeep) 6 lug to 5 on 5.5 lug?
Here is the list of parts needed to convert a Dana 44 (Chevrolet or Jeep) 6 lug to 5 on 5.5 lug?. This is one option, there may be others.
* 1 pair of small bearing spindles. These can be found on Jeep Wagoneers 1974 to 1975 or Chevrolets 1973 to 1976.
* Chevrolet or Jeep Wagoneer caliper mounts from a Dana 44. Chevrolets 1973 – 1986 or Jeep Wagoneers 1974 – 1990.
* Ford 5 bolt hub and rotor from F150 or full size Bronco 1976 – 1996. If using hubs/rotors with ABS components just remove them.
* Ford bearings and seals. The critical piece is the inner small bearing, the outer bearing is the same size.
How to convert a Ford Dana 44 solid axle to Chevrolet Dana 44 flat top knuckles?
Here is the list of parts needed to convert a Ford Dana 44 to Chevrolet Dana 44 flat top knuckles. This is one option, there may be others.
* 1 pair of Dana 44 flat top knuckles from a Chevrolet or Jeep disc brake style.
* 1 pair of small bearing spindles. These can be found on Jeep Wagoneers 1974 to 1975 or Chevrolets 1/2 ton trucks or blazers 1973 to 1976. The 3/4 trucks with 8 lug hubs use the large bearing spindles. We can machine these down for you if necessary.
* Chevrolet or Jeep Wagoneer caliper mounts from a Dana 44. Chevrolets 1973 – 1986 or Jeep Wagoneers 1974 – 1990. If using the Chevrolet caliper mounts use the ones of the 1/2 ton trucks or blazers. The 3/4 ton trucks with 8 lug hubs used a larger diameter rotor and taller caliper bracket.
* Ford bearings and seals. The critical piece is the inner small bearing, the outer bearing is the same size.

Based on that list, I think If I put a ford 5 bolt hub and rotor, and ford bearings and seals on my waggy 44 I will be all set. Later, I can find a chevy or FSJ flat tops and swap those in, all the rest stays the same.
