MuddyPaws mentioned this web site - thought I would check it out.
I am located in Atlanta MI - lots of fun trails around here - though nothing all that technical. Relative newbie to Jeepin - but do spend a ton of time on motorcycles with my kids - the 3 of us race the District 14 enduros.
I have a 97 TJ 4 banger, soon to be transformed into a 4.0 (the wrenching will begin in just a couple days). Currently in the process of gathering up parts - have most of what I need. Have a 4.0 from a 98 Grand, will use an AW-4 tranny from a 92 XJ, and have a 23 spline T-Case to use already.
This Jeep project is a "father and son" sort of deal, as shortly after we told my 17 yr. old son the Jeep was his to use - the 4 banger died! (not his fault)... Our Jeep is nothing extreme - Rancho 2.5" Rockcrawler lift on 31's. Once the 4.0 is in, with our 4.10 axles, we may move up to at least some 33s - the 4 banger had a hard time turning the 31s - that wont be an issue now!
So - I am sure I will be asking dumb questions about my swap - and hopefully later on , will hook up with some of you guys to do some wheeling.
