I think the angle of the rear shocks is gonna give you trouble though.

what makes you think so?

I'm thinking that your angle is pretty severe cause by the top mounting to the axle. The shock isn't doing to dampen much mounted in this type of position.

i agree, it not the angle from looking from the front or back of the vehicle, its how horizontal its mounted, Abe did you buy it chopped? Looks like the trac bar and diff housing are awefully close to the engine crossmember, or is the pic making it look like that?

abester69
12-22-2007, 04:05 PM
Yea wanted to keep the shocks out of the way,and they wont bottom out. I know they wont work super duper but Im not that concearned about that. What you see here is merely a mock-up. Some things will be changed and some wont.

And the cross is shaved 2 1/2 inches, axle is moved ahead 2 1/2 inch. as well. The picture does not do the spacing any justice.

i figured, the pic was just really deceiving

i'd chop mine, but its so solid and i love winter wheeling, but not being frozen. Are you gonna make a removable soft top? It would be slick to make a removable hard top like the Full size broncs

No, I think Im going to take the rest of the top off all but the windshield. I have a 92' ex-ploder Im fixing forthe winter.

Wow; thats exactly the look Im looking for. Im also going to put baja style rollcage 6 pt. on it. So many ideas, so little money. The 2.9 Im leaving stock. Ihave a 5.0 on the stand w/ a c-4 and mod. 20. For when I blow up the 2.9.

The rear shock id say give it a try , if it dont work just roll the bracket towards the back and reweld it .

Front clearence im still messing with on my GMC with a 44 . Lacks up travel , i had to put the bump stops lower then i wanted so have more head scratching to do .

This type of build ( none purchased ) takes a little more time to dial in but theres a lot more satisfaction to it for me .

This B 2 has a V 8 dont it Abe ?

abester69
12-23-2007, 11:32 AM
Nope, it has a 2.9 v-6. I dont really think it'll last long. But that is what Ithought about the 'yota. And your absolutly right a little more thought and elbow grease makes a cheap build pretty satisfying project.

Blew a engine changing plugs, got another one for 0$. New clutch w/ slave cyl. We drove this unit to the two-trackers detination run from Cadillac to Travers city. Did well averaged about 18 mpg. This was a really good idea. Stil working on the B2, that project will be a little bit more extreme. The explorer will maintain mild for the wife.:dirty::dance:
