I don't really have an answer for you but lots of people use it for lots of different reasons.
I don't use it daily, however I am planning on using it when I am out of town in south carolina so I can send pictures and video and notes to my son. He gets a kick out of seeing this stuff while I am gone. He'll even ask me when I am talking to him on the phone things like what's it look like out your hotel room window? So I can send him pics of the stuff while I am gone for the week.
Last summer he used it while we were on vacation to do the same thing only so that his grandmother could see what he was up to on vacation.
Day to day, I don't see the point either, however I can see the merit for uses like this. It's quick and easy is the biggest part.
Easier than using a blogging site. I used Blogger last year when I took my students on the trip to detroit so parents could see what was going on. It was a pain in the butt. I'll use a twitter setup for this in December when we go to detroit this year.

Uh, yea but it's WAY easier to do it bloggin or twitter or something like that when you are doing it with a phone.
And when I post there, and Nicholas goes to see it, that's all he sees is what I posted. He doesn't have to sift through all this crap or log in.

Well, after the blow up goat/flashlight story, Olivia is convinced you are probably a more corrupting parent than I was.
