Silver Lake closer Petition. Please read, need YOUR help!!!!
This is my first post on this site, I am not a 4x4 person although I am a resident Silver Lake Sand Dune attendee like some of you guys/gals are!!! I just wanted to help spread the word of this, so I can get as many people on board as possible.

I have created a petition that I will be delivering to our state reps on October 1 2009. I need as many signatures as possible to make this happen. This petition is to have the state extend the silver lake state parks closing date by ONE day, so we can close the season on a complete weekend, and not on a Saturday which October 31st this year is a Saturday.

I know its a long shot, but I just want to see what happens, if nothing, well nothing was lost except a little time on the computer..

So lets speak out to our state about or beloved Sand dunes.

Everyone always has good things to say about them, now tell the state!

Thanks for any support you guys can offer!!!

PS. I know its a long shot, I am really only looking for support, I dont need to hear people say that its a waste of time, or it wont work. Positive support is what I am looking for, if I doesn't work, only my time invested is lost. All you gotta do is sign the petition..

Save the Dunes? They aren't in danger of anything.

Personally I don't see why they ever need to close.

x2, I think what this person is trying to do is extend the SEASON closing date by 1 day.

that would be crazy dangerous in a truck during the winterhuh? how so? :wtf:

do they turn into a giant sheet of ice and you'd not have any control and slide down the hills into a wide open area?

Dunes get moisture in the sand and most of it freezes hard, the other parts that dont freeze blow on top of most any snow out there, been there a few times with the sled. there is some awesome trailriding for snowmobiles around that area though.

That icy, jaggy, frozen sand looks like it would be super fun in the Jeep.. I dont see how winter running at the dunes would be any more dangerous than normal, other than people getting frostbite while trying to unstuck.

yeah me either, I know sand blows over the snow, and you get sinkholes, and everything else, but I see zero added danger
