I know a lot of folks arent fans of the 110 mig welders but if you dont use the 110 for anything more than 1/8" thick or just exhaust work would you see any issues?

exhaust it seems perfect for. ive had to weld a couple mufflers back together at work with our 110 lincoln mig.

I've used 110 mig for heavier work. If you know what you are doing, it can be done. Is it the best way? No, but it will work.
I think S-glide used a 110 mig to build a complete car trailer.

Just looked, Lincoln 110 mig is rated up to 1/4 with multi-pass.
i used a 110 to build my Heep and i have beat it sence less and its the machanical parts that fail. like the knuckle snaping off. i would say if you trust your welds you will be fine with the 110

I know one guy that welded up his spiders in the rear running 39" with a pretty powerful motor and that was last year and hes still running them. (its not me either) Like stated above if you take your time, maybe pre-heat the metal a bit to get a little more penatration.
Also I think alot might have to do with the welder your using, I know my buddy has a Clark 110 and I wouldnt weld sheetmetal with garbage. Just my 2 cents.
Good luck

I would hope you have no complaints. It hasn't seen the trail yet.

yes i did, took way more time, but with multipass and alot of grinding there is nothing wrong with the welds

I also built my last jeep, as well as half my Toyota with an older Lincoln weld-pak 100. Todays 110 welders are better now, 135 amp.
If you know how to weld (key here are: clean metal, bevel thick joints, tight fitting joints, watch the duty cycle), they work just fine.
There's going to be very few things on a normal sized 4x4 that need more than 1/4" steel. Consider that your frame is around 1/8" thick for a vehicle, and even most axles aren't more than 1/4" thick tubes until you get to 3/4 ton size...
