Im building my 4.0 in autoclass this year!
Anyway i was wondering whats a good place to buy from for a whole engine overhaul kit?
Also I was kinda thinking of going from fuel injected to carborated?
Is that a good idea or should i keep the EFI?
its a 92 cherokee motor if that helps
thanks!

If you convert to a carb, I will personally drive down there and kick your ass.
Tear down the motor, get it to the machine shop, find out from them how much you have to bore it and what size the crank will be.
Then order your kit.

Stay EFI.
All I can say about carbs is to stay away. 3 out of the 4 vehicles I owned with carbs annoyed me to death.:fryingpan:

do a 4.5L , 4.6L, or 4.7L stroker. Search the net for some good info, but research carefully, as there is some bad info out there too.
You can get up to 5.0L out of a 4.0L but it's very high dollar

Ya know, A friend of mine said that, when I wanted to convert to electronic ignition from points on my SBC's in the boat.
I now carry a spare "module" incase of failure, while he carries an emery board(fingernail file).
I would not change EFI to carburated by any means either. But I really dislike a computer ruining my day.

a computer rarely goes bad. a carb is always needing tweeked so i wouldnt wanna mess w/ it if i already have efi

Don't care what carb you have....it will not function right in this situation....which is exactly when you REALLY want it to work right.
Fuel injection will keep on ticking.

Yes, fuel infection will always be better than carbination.
However...alchohal would be a rather interesting modification.

Never thought of turning it into a stroker. I dont want to spend a huge amount of money. I dont know if i wanna go much bigger bored. but how much will a stroker kit cost? and I kinda want more low end, as im going to put it in a crawler not a bogger.

Honestly....I have owned several carbs, and I would put my carb up to running in that situation anyday, a Holley Truck Avenger. It is the best carb that I have ever owned, and I can literally stand the CJ on the end, and I have pretty much laid it on the side, and it will still run. I have never been in a situation where I could not do something because my carb has held me back, and stopped me from running anything.....including that same trail. You were there:poke::hehe:
That said, if you have EFI, say with it....no questions ask. There really is no benefit to going to a carb, and getting rid of the fuel injection. The only reason I have a carb is because CJ's came stock with them, and it was just much easier for me to go this route. Carbs dont have any real benefits over FI, except for possibly simplicity, but just learn how the system works, and they arent that terrible. It will be much more beneficial to you, will run on angles (especially for a crawler), usually better fuel economy, and much easier to start in the cold.
