Dismantling the B2, Built a Family Hauler Wheeler. But i cannot beat the Explorer like a beat the B2 as i intend to keep the body straight and glass intact. But at the same time i love to built the crap and not care wheeling that the b2 offered. So i am building another rig.

Heres where i am starting.....

1st Gen Ranger Cab
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/cheapthrillb2/New%20Build%20Truggy/IMG_3531.jpg

Bronco 2 Frame (not the same frame as my old b2 as that one is bent).
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/cheapthrillb2/New%20Build%20Truggy/IMG_3532.jpg

Full Width D44 and 9"
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/cheapthrillb2/New%20Build%20Truggy/IMG_3537.jpg

and my 38's
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/cheapthrillb2/New%20Build%20Truggy/IMG_3538.jpg

Min. Lift as possible to clear the 38's
Already have 5.13's ordered for the axles
New set of Rims (on Order) and DIY beadlocks
Reuse my D44 Aussie from my other D44
Weld the 9" spiders
Most likely an Exo-Cage with some sort of bed cage
Mounting the Radiator behind the cab
Mounting winch where rad. would be
Chopping as much off the front of the frame as possible for best approach angle
Ext. Radius Arms and 5.5" EB coils up front and 63" Chevy springs in the back
Lots of other crap.

Gonna start real soon on the build, Going to Harlin. KY mid March and plan to take this with me. :rov:

shoot, i would cut/ dovetail the front and tube the rear for a super sweet truggy. Build the rear leaf mounts and then locate the front coil buckets to match the height. With that pile of parts you can really make it any height you want.

You should really move over to this side of the state, then i would have something to do when i run out of money for my rig.

i had to grind the caliper brackets i bought to fit on the axle, the pads and rotors didn't line-up as in didn't sit with full contact surface of the pads against the rotors. all better now, the brackets are welded to the axle.

the grinder kinda got away from me on the first one lol

I have another D44 housing at the house i think, i might just grab that and start over....

Heres the stock style hub i run (this hub has now been through two chrome moly's) that is still good. And below it is my Yukon Chrome Moly that i broke at rocks/valleys two weeks ago.

I purchased them from Broncograveyard early last year. Shattered the LF inner/outer last summer. Blew all the ears off the inner and the stub. The 5-760x ujoint held though. So it wasn't a ujoint failure. So i got that one warrantied. But now i broke this one. But because i got the Left side warrantied already for free, now i cannot warranty this one because its only warrantieable one time. So I'm now SOL with the stub and would have to buy a new one at full price to replace it.

I think i may send yukon an email. I think its BS that i have eaten 2 chrome moly's on a stock warn style hub and the hub has held each time.

I had all the intentions in getting my driveshafts made today and finishing up my drivetrain.

But spent a few hours looking into a friends jeep and a whole lot of time trying regain my workbench and what not. needless to say after many hours i got the bench clean and then some in the garage. I got all done and felt like a 400 lb man who just lost 200 lbs and got to see his dick again after 20 years :teehee:

I got Tuesday off so i plan to spend the majority of my day working. Did i mention i am planning on running this thing in 3 weeks down in Harlin :teehee:

I like being honest......if i don't get it warrantied, it doesn't get warrantied.

heres my letter

I would to start out by saying I love your products. I am the President of my local off-road Club (www.cheapthrillsoffroad.com) and am a member of a another club (www.sundowners4x4.com). As well as to being an avid wheeler, I am also anASE certified Automotive Technician. I have been running yukon shafts in my trucks as well as ring/pinions. I purchase the majority of my parts from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard.

But alas onto my issue, I purchased a pair of Yukon 4340 Axle shafts with 5-760x ujoints from Bronco Graveyard last February. My truck at the time was a 88 Ford Bronco II with a 4.0L V6 5 spd. I was running 36x12.50 15's and an Aussie Locker in the front of my D44. I spend 99% of my time wheeling in Michigan. And as many know Michigan is extremely limited to its wheeling location do to the very strict laws of theDNR. When I assembled my axle I had used Chevy Flat top knuckles from a mid 70's Chevy D44 . I had retained the stock Warn style hubs when I did the swap, my thinking was this would be the weak point or "fuse" in my front axle if breakage should occur. While wheeling a friends private property I had run into a dirtburm with my LF tire at a slow to mild speed and the impact creating an extremely loud bang/crack. To my dismay i found the ears from the stub shaft and the inner shaft from the left side to be sheared off and the ujoint to be MIA. I had figured with my warranty i would need to have the old ujoint to prove it was not a ujoint failure that created/caused it. After about an hour of myself and several friends searching the dirt we found the caps and the cross shafts of the joint. The center (cross shaft) of theujoint was very well still intact and virtually undamaged. As well as we found the caps and the caps still had the c-clips on them. So I knew I didn't throw a cap creating the failure. And to my dismay I found the stock type (30 yr old) hub still intact and in perfect working order. So my "fuse" didn't work. However upon disassembly I found all 4 pins in my Aussie locker to be broken. Contacted Aussie Lockers and found this to be normal with an axle shaft failure. Aussie very promptly rushed out a set of new pins under warranty.

I called Jeff's the next business day, and with no questions they warranted the shaft. Very happy with the service and they were very prompt in shipping me out a new inner/outer.

Fast forward to two weeks ago. I have sense dismantled my Bronco II and have used the axles in my new project. 1991 Ford Explorer with a 4.0L andA4LD . Still using all the same axle components as the previous vehicle (including the stock style hubs). With the exception of new tires, I am now running 38x12.50 15'sTSL's. While wheeling a new park in Michigan, I was attempting to climb a small rock ledge when CRACK!!! my LF wheel lost power. My first thought was that the old stock hub finally failed. But upon inspection I found the stub shaft to be broken at the hub. Once again my stock 30 year old hub withstood a chromemoly axle shaft break.

I called Jeff's again about my warranty, but having used my warranty last year with the previous break I was told I would have to purchase a new stub shaft. Granted I know I could have lied about my tire size or even said it was from my Right shaft and gotten it warranted. But I feel the need to be honest with my business dealings. I understand Jeff's position and in no way dispute the non-warranty of my shaft. But I do feel in no way, regardless of my tire size, that my stock hubs should be outlasting chromemoly axle shafts esc. having one hub withstand two breaks. I am rather unhappy with my purchase of the axle shafts do to these failures.

I have included several links to pictures to show my parts....

This is the first failure in May of 2008, this was covered under warranty

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e47/CheapThrillsOffRoad1/May%2025%202008/Kennysmay25061.jpg

And this is my recent failure, pictured shown also shows the stock style hub that has survived both failures.

It seems to me that I read alot of people bitching about the warrentys that these companys put on the super duper chromer shafts, and they seem to never get replaced?? just wondering I still run stck D60 shafts so I no nothing about CHromers

For what i have to work with it turned out pretty good

I moved the rear leaf front hangars two inches forward to get my shackle angle better. I noticed at stuff the shackles flattened out and the leafs touched the bumper. All better now.

Heres the side of the rear section of cage.

Start of the Slider
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/cheapthrillb2/New%20Build%20Truggy/TruggyMarch1109004.jpg

I plan to tie the cab's exo cage to the slider (reason for the slider sitting so far from the rockers

The slider didn't end up where i thought it would in the rear. One cause of the frame curved up and two cause the tire to cab clearance wouldn't allow it where i thought it would go. Heres what i think i might do at the cab corners.

temporary gas tank mounting till i can afford a fuel cell, the factory skid is bolted to the frame via carriraige bolts. Then a strip of rubber between that and the tank. Then some more rubber between the tank and the factory gas tank straps over the top securing it to the skid plate.

He's in Harlan right now, broke the pin in his mini-spool on a waterfall the first day. Nothing from what he's told me today so far. :thumb: I'm sure he'll post the hell out of some pics when he gets back.

Yep first day about 3 hours in i blew out the cross pin in the 9"......Broke it in like 4 pieces rumping on it. Thankfully about two hours before we left on Last tues i welded up another carrier i had and packed it along. About an hour i had it fixed and wheeling again. This was Thurs.

Friday i had no real problems. I had developed a PS leak at an o-ring on the line at the pump, but an occasional top off kept that problem at bay.

Saturday we were playing and i started to spit a cap, but caught it before it munched a shaft. So got a spare ujoint installed on the trail and kept on rocking. Later saturday on the way back down the mountain i sudden;y couldn't turn left. The plate i welded to my frame for the trac bar mount began tearing off the frame and was taking the frame with it. So two rachet straps and my winch cable placed just right got it held in place so i could drive down the mountian.

It rained the entire time so every trail up the mountain was a waterfall, and every switchback was a greasy slip and slide.

Now for the pics

Also got a bunch of grinding on the 60 done and made sure the 15" rims fit on the 14 bolt. I have a little of grinding to do on the front 60 brake parts but not much. The 95 D60 brakes are a bit smaller then the 94 and older brakes.

14 bolt gears tomorrow
d60 gears?? maybe tomorrow but have no idea i got no tracking number
D60 yoke kit and seals Thurs? possibly
14 bolt crush sleeves Thurs? possibly

Have to admit the 14 bolt diff cover is like paper thin. Gonna get one of those to lol. Still need to get front axle joints.

Got the Left side of the pig trimmed on the 60 to gain another 1.5" of Tube to attach the susp. bracket. Welded the tube to the pig where i cut it. Hopefully tomorrow evening i can get the 44 out and mock up the 60 housing to figure out where to burn the susp. brackets to. Then dissassmeble the 14 bolt and get that stuff cleaned up.

oh and i have to put a fuel pump in dads eb and try and get the toe sleeve to adjust.

CheapThrillB2

The D60 gears are "out for delivery" which is means they are usually here by 11am and i haven't seen them yet.....???????

And i just ordered my d60 lock right...guy says it will ship today (i verified he had them or they were available) $330 to my door

So i got the 14B carrier back in the housing at home....got the pinion assm assembled and the crush sleeve and preload set (what a PITA). So when i get home i'll install that and set the gears up.

Yesterday i got the 60 housing installed and the brackets burned to the housing then removed the housing from the truck so i can set those gears up when they come in.

What a shitty day

Went to work to get the pinion bearings, ended up damaging them and had to buy new ones.

Get home and put together the front axle to get the gear pattern right, had to buy a new pinion nut as the old one was MIA. Everything went together fine but when i went to take the nut back off it ate the last 4 threads of the pinion and the but destroyed itself. So i need to clean those threads and get a new nut (again).

Trying to get my wheels to clear my front brakes......I don't think they will. I don't think theirs gonna be enough material left over to stop the truck :fish: If had gotten rims with 2" BS i think i would of been fine. But my rims have 4" BS and are causing nothing but problems.

And i stood up into a nail in the garage and carved the shit out of my back from it.
