Get enuff rain and snow this weekend? Snow was too heavy to clear the back blade nicely and now the clumps are frozen up. Stayed inside and installed a new oven yesterday. Took the opprtunity for some deep cleaning while it was out. Also fired up the slow cooker for some venison/barley and veggie soup. Been in 4wd all weekend. I think I should trade the WJ in on a 2wd Saturn. Then, when the county commisioner calls 911 for his heart attack, I'll be stuck at home because he kept the plow trucks IN all weekend.

I say :woot: for snow!
Moved into my new house on Friday! Its great! Little cold due to no heating vent in my room but i bought a little ceramic heater so now its good:thumbsup:
Loving all the snow we got this weekend! Got enough that my girlfriend had to stay up an extra day :naughty:
Got enough snow that I spent most of yesterday pulling people out. Pulled out a Mazda something, a chevy 1/2 ton :hehe: then got a call to pull out a plow truck but he got out before i got there. Great day

got all the Christmas decorating done. Most of the shopping is done, have a few odds and ends to pick up tomorrow. Have most of the house cleaned for the holidays and am waiting on Chris to finish the major rehaul of the master bath so I can paint and clean the sitting room which has been the work space for the past few weeks. Need to polish silver before the parties begin and bake cookies. Oh, and wrap presents....arghhhhhhhh, need more rum to get that job done I think :)

Coffee's on, fritters on the counter, roads a little better in the Grand Rapids area.
Had this happen to one of my guys Saturday. He's banged up and at home now. He responded to a vehicle in the ditch after it struck an abandoned vehicle on the shoulder. While processing the crash, another pickup stopped directly behind the patrol car, blocking the emergency lights from view. Then a vehicle slid into the patrol car causing it to strike the trooper and toss him in the ditch. The camera jumps when struck, so you miss the flight. Right after the crash, we get a call on 9-1-1 from the guy that stopped behind the patrol car, cussing at the dispatcher, name calling the injured trooper, and demanding to speak with his supervisor, because he got "yelled at" for stopping illegally and causing an enjury accident. His is comeing I think. Anyway, just an example of what goes on out there, watch yourselves out there.

One literary criticism done, one more to write. the second one is easier, as it is about Dr. Seuss. I just have to figure out my thesis. I think it is going to be about how the bigger books (Oh, the Places You'll Go!,The Lorax, The Sneetches, etc. are great for children and young adults. Now I just have to do the reasearch and write the damm thing by Friday.

Not a book report.
A Thesis paper.
Went up to Harbor Beach on Saturday, thinking I'd get in some shore fishing for Salmon. I forgot this is December, and not October. Walked into a wall of freezing rain. I may be feeling betterer, but I'm not getting any smarterer.

I wonder if there is any way you can tie the lessons learned to things proven by adult science. yah, I know it will be a lot of work (I already have my masters, thus I can suggest such things knowing I don't need to do the ground work....) But it would be fun to "prove" Dr. Suess with things already proven in the adult world. You would probably need to use some creative license such as the "blue eyes/brown eyes" experiment proves the importance of differences in our society, etc. but it still would be a fun thing to explore if one had the time and energy to do so.
Best of luck. There is a strange part of me (yeah, beyond the ones you guys know and love) that misses school and these types of assignments. Don't forget to tell them you know someone who would be a great school social worker when you talk shop :)

How about a paper on how Dr.Suess affects us as grown ups? IE- what lesson could you take on the arms race in the 50's-80's from the Butter Battle Book? Or competition from the Sneeches? Greenies and the Lorax? I think Ol' Ted was trying to say something to the grownups reading the books to kids, as well as his "Target" audience.

That is kind of the position that I am taking with my paper. How Dr. Seuss taught us to be a better society, not only by making reading fun for children, but how he made us remember to believe in ourselves, stand up even if we are alone, and civil liberties.
Did you know that Yertle the turtle was baised on Hitler?

Good stuff! I actually have a copy of "Dr. Seuss goes to war" around here somewhere, if you want to borrow it for your paper.

Coffee's on, brought in some venison jerky to snack on. Lots of slide-offs and crashes this morning but it's finally slowing down. Got some more wood cut yesterday, but getting low already. Did a lot of indoor work too. Some cleaning, put up cieling fans, caught up some wiring projects. Gotta get a couple fly's tied up this weekend that were ordered up a long time ago. I've been tying classic salmon flies and frame them up for display for a couple years now. Have a good one!

Grandaughter came back last night. If she had her way she would never leave. Starting to get the Christmas Present bought and thinking of what to get for people. Rock Candy is the next thing that needs to be done for chirstmas. and then the checks mix.
Had 4 deer in the back yard this A.M. Seen some spikes on one of them. there will be something for next year anyway. the Numbers of them around here have gone down big time over the last 10 years.
still snowing this am Its stating to look like it is here to stay this time .

I'm obsessing on Land Rovers. I can't help myself. We had a customer bring in a Series III earlier this week, and I really want to sell my jeep and buy one. My wife's gonna kill me.

I'm torn between a pickup and a 3 door. I'm in love, though! There's some nice stuff on eBay right now, too. Found a place in Toronto that has a P/U cab for $600 CAD...

I have decided that I buy too many presents.....I have some wrapped, most boxed, and now I'm just wasting time because wrapping the rest of them is just overwhelming at this point in time.
I'm playing Christmas cds, sitting in the basement surrounded by Christmas lights, thinking that Miffy is awesome because she actually knows how to make rock candy, and trying to get up enough energy to go upstairs to go to bed. Man, I love Fridays :)
